Your Italian home from home. Your hosts: When we lived in England it was always our dream to move abroad and we always loved Italy so it seemed the natural choice. We love the culture, the music, the Marchigiano cuisine, the friendliness of the people and of course the weather. We are grandparents and our children live in England. The bed & breakfast and olive farm require lots of hard work and energy although Gregory still finds time to pursue his passion of teaching through working part-time for the Italian State. Sandra when not fulfilling her casa lingua duties pursues her interests of cooking and gardening . This year she vows to begin writing a selection of magazine articles based upon our experiences in Italy. We love meeting new people and welcoming returning guests as friends. (if you have a problem with the link from this website please e-mail us through your own mailbox) Arrivals by car: We are some 25 minutes from the A14 autostrada. The roads are excellent with a very good motorway network throughout Italy to Rome & other major cities and also to Northern Europe. Car hire is available at your arrival airport and at certain times of the year they have discounts. Arrivals by plane: Ancona/Falconara International - this modern airport is around 30 minutes drive. There are regular connections with other Italian cities. From Ancona airport - there is a frequent train service to Jesi and Macerata with regular onward bus connections to Cingoli. Rimini airport is around 85 minutes drive away (with good rail connections to Macerata) and is a convenient alternative to Ancona airport. Check out your most convenient arrivals airport:
Check out low cost airlines with flights to these airports. Rome is of course the favourite as it is serviced by all airlines. It is a pleasant drive from Rome to Le Marche with the opportunity to stop off for sightseeing along the way. Click on the left hand thumbnail to find your most convenient arrivals airport. Arrivals by train and bus: The nearest railway station is Macerata with a reliable regular bus service from Macerata to Cingoli. Alight at Troviggiano where we offer guests a free courtesy car pick you up service to/from il sorger del sole. There is a super fast rail service from Milan to Bologna followed by express train to Macerata. Other close by rail stations include Fabriano (mainline) and Jesi with fast trains to Rome. There are Pullman coaches to and from Macerata to Rome and other major Italian & European cities. Arrivals by ship: The nearest ferry terminal is in Ancona (45 minutes drive) check out the regular sailings to and from Albania, Croatia and the Greek Islands. Travelling without a car: There are good bus and rail services in the Region. There are taxi services available in Troviggiano & Grottaccia and reasonably priced car and mini bus hire in Troviggiano. We offer a courtesy car service to/fromTroviggiano which is available for guests wishing to use the regular bus service between Cingoli and Macerata with onward connections. There are taxi transfers available to/from Ancona airport to il sorger del sole and you can book on the internet (e-mail us for details). Local amenities: T here is a general store, bar, post office and restaurant in the nearby village of Avenale where you can purchase crusty bread, sliced meats, local cheeses and most other items. In the nearby village of Troviggiano there is a supermarket which sells just about everything with a delicatessen bar and packs of cold roast chicken, salads etc, a petrol station, post office, pharmacy, bars, restaurant, hairdresser, florist (if you wish to buy your own flowers a vase can be provided), garage, electrical store, gift shops, clothes shops, etc. There are several cash machines and banks locally.There is a cottage hospital with casualty department, doctors and an English speaking dentist in Cingoli (Dr Roberto Cameriere Tel 0733 602782 -Tuesdays & Thursdays from 1500 hrs). The health service is excellent with specialist hospitals in Ancona, Jesi and Macerata. Additional Accommodation Information: Although we don't have a single room, rates are sometimes discounted for single occupancy. An additional comfortable fold up bed is available at an extra cost of 10 euros per night excluding breakfast. We are a non-smoking house and for your safety smoke alarms are fitted throughout the house. Guests are welcome to smoke in the courtyard and ashtrays are provided. Sorry we cannot accommodate pets. We do not have any pets of our own and the local wildlife roam around freely. Guests can come and go anytime they please. There is free gated parking in the courtyard. Check-in is after:2.00pm (1400 hrs) on day of arrival and check-out before 12.00 noon on day of departure (flexible by prior arrangement). Light bed covers are provided in hotter months and cosy thick quilts in the cooler months. Two pillows are standard and extra blankets are always available. You will find your room to be naturally cool in the hotter months but, if it is exceptionally hot, a fan can be provided on request. You will find your room to be very cosy in the cooler months and heated by an electric oil filled radiator. If you have any special requests we will do our best! General Information to make your stay more enjoyable: We have a wealth of knowledge about the area, local restaurants and the 'must see' areas and 'must do' attractions. This enables you to settle in far more quickly - ideal if you are staying for a short break. It is reassuring to know that we are available at most times for advice, assistance or to answer any questions that you may have. Local tourist information & details of local restaurants are provided, together with suggested excursions, directions and local town maps. N.B. There are restaurants in the local villages of Avenale and Troviggiano that currently have a fixed price menu of the day with pasta, grills, water, bread and wine at 12 euros per person. They offer menu of the day or meals from their full menu, just pasta or pizza (including takeaway) most evenings. A selection of CDs, DVDs, Books & Magazines are loaned free-of-charge for guests to enjoy during their stay. A limited in-house laundry service is available with use of washing machine, tumble dryer and/or iron and board at small additional cost. There are outside drying areas to hang washing and wet towels. Guests are welcome to hand wash items and use the drying areas. Guests can access the internet and telephone locally or there is a small in-house charge for telephone calls, internet access, fax transmission or photocopying services. There is good signal strength at il sorger del sole for mobile telephones or plug in internet cards for laptops. We have found that guests like to picnic in the gardens and olive groves and often buy crusty bread, meat and cheese etc to store in their fridge. We have picnic plates, bowls, cutlery, breadboard, candles etc available for guests to use free of charge. "Shall be back in the summer. Lovely stay - great views. Great hospitality.
