A warm welcome and fine hospitality await you

We, your hosts, Gregory and Sandra would like to invite you to share our lovely home.

Commanding an elevated hillside position, our beautiful house 'il sorger del sole' ( the sunrise) is so named because of the most fantastic sunrises that bathe the house in early morning sunlight. Facing south east,  the original terraced gardens are charming with a fragrant herb garden with rosemary, sage, fennel, thyme,  mint and an abundance of roses & lavenders. We are continually adding to the original gardens and every year plant more bulbs, herbs, cacti, palms, bushes and trees. We have an original  well in the garden, an antique plough and an original stone bread oven. We have a gigantic sun tree with smaller ones dotted around, an ancient oriental tree and our orchard has (Fig, Plum, Cherry, Damson, Peach & Apricot trees), ancient bay trees and the meadow has walnut trees, an almond tree, a gigantic ancient oak tree, fruit bushes and groves of ancient 'Mignola' olive trees which are over 300 years old and continue to produce olives that are harvested by hand in November which produce one of the finest extra virgin olive oils in Italy - bottled under our own single estate label.

il sorger del sole is an ancient stone house comprising three floors with the first floor accessed by age-old stone steps. The house has been extended over the centuries - probably as more space was required for growing families. We have traced its history as far as possible and discovered records showing the house registered as a 'Casa Colonica' (Country House) in the early 1700's. However, we consider that the original section of the house pre-dates the 1700's because some of the stonework matches that found in medieval properties in Cingoli. Woodburning stoves.jpg (1112019 bytes) In its thick walls are outlines of former fireplaces, ovens and chimneys on the ground and first floors. B11.JPG (569160 bytes)M.JPG (567363 bytes)We have renovated the house with loving care and have retained as many original materials & features as possible, these include ancient oak doors with hand made locks & hinges attached with hand made nails, exposed stone walls, insets, kitchen fireplace, ancient oak beams & joists and hand made tiled ceilings. There are large oak lintels in the walls which were once used to support the heavy stonework above former fireplaces, doors and windows.

As your character guest room is private, very quiet and exclusive you will not be surprised that many of our guests are romantics or honeymooners. Your guest room has all the character you could wish for and also modern day comforts. With one metre thick castle like stone walls and small windows the intention was that the house be naturally cool and airy in hotter months and warm and cosy in cooler months. The perfect environment to unwind, relax and de-stress......
