For the Comfort of our
Guests
We try to think of every
comfort for our guests and provide eg: fluffy bath sheets, embroidered hand towels
& bathmats; co-ordinating rugs and cushions; beautiful crockery and
glassware. In the
hotter months we provide beach towels for guests to use while sunbathing on the
sunbeds provided in the gardens or taking to the beach or water park. We also provide
fans and mosquito nets on request. In the hotter months the rooms are cool and
airy and in the cooler months the rooms are heated.
We have found that guests like
to picnic in the gardens and olive groves and often buy crusty bread, meat and
cheese etc to store in their room fridge. We always have plastic picnic plates,
cups, cutlery and candles in stock and a breadboard and knife for guests to use.
Throughout the year we
furnish the guest rooms with a little extra touch, eg: spring flowers or roses
from our garden; pastries, cakes or chocolates; fruit or snacks.
Guests can choose from our
'late breakfast or our 'anytime breakfast'
Private Dining & Seasonal Suppers - advance notice is
required so advise before arrival for 1st or 2nd night of your stay
A very popular option
(especially when the evenings are dark) is to eat supper with your hosts in the farmhouse
kitchen. Two courses of whatever ingredients are available on the day. The menu
varies according to season and the first course usually consists of
pasta, gnocchi, risotto, soup or cold dish with the second course usually
consisting of meat or fish (fried, grilled stewed or casseroled) and side dishes
of vegetables and/or salad. We all eat generally the same meal and we do consider
your likes and dislikes. Guests can bring drinks
from their complimentary guest room mini bar.
Private
dining is also available and we
cater for vegetarians, non meat eaters and vegans.
House, gardens and olive
groves
Our lovely home 'il
sorger del sole' is built with thick castle like stone walls and small windows
with the intention of it to be naturally cool and airy in hot
months and warm
and cosy in cooler months. We have furnished the house with a selection of antiques and oil paintings and
have tried to recreate the decor to complement its age. il sorger
del sole once formed part of the small San Giorgio (St George) community
with
the local church originally sited on the hill behind the house. In 1777 an order
made it obligatory for the local inhabitants to join together, support and
maintain the church's furniture and fittings. A visit by the Bishop of Osimo and
Cingoli in 1818 reported there were 35 people who regularly attended the church
for mass. Today, the church and most of the local houses have long since disappeared.
The original gardens contain a
herb garden, rose garden, fruit trees (Fig, Kiwi, Plum, Cherry, Damson, Pear, Peach and Apricot), bay
trees and the meadow has walnut trees, a large ancient oak tree, fruit bushes and groves
of ancient 'Mignola' olive trees which are over 300 years old and continue to produce
olives that are harvested by hand in November which produce some of the finest extra virgin olive
oil in Italy.
